CANANG SARI is everywhere in Bali. CANANG SARI is made by
Baliness Hindus as expression of thank and pray to their God. It has variation
of shape and composition but mostly, the container is made from palm leaf
basket while various kinds of flower, leaves, and other offerings are put
inside those
It is quite interesting to correlate this practice to the
landscape of Bali. I remember when I visited Bali, I saw many houses have garden.
In the garden, they grow many plants, especially flowery plants that make the whole
landscape becomes beautiful. The demands of the CANANG, directly or indirectly
has shaped Bali landscape. They need tree that produce flower or other plants
for offering in daily basis, so they have to have a series of plant in their
garden. They have to take care their landscape to keep their praying activity
going on. And it made Bali Landscape beautiful, not only the culture but also
the environment.
