LITTLE TALKS OF INDONESIA CULTURE

To celebrate Indonesian independence month, I decide to create a project about Indonesia. This project is about looking some Indonesia cultures to see its relevancy to today life. Almost all people talking about the importance of preserving or conserving the cultures. But some questions come to my head? Why? Is it only arbitrary or generic statement? Because I think, nowadays, people live in popular culture. Is it really matter if we don’t wear BATIK? Is it really matter if we don’t watch traditional dance? Or is it really matter If we don’t know and care any traditional custom? We still can live without of that, In fact most people live in this state of popular culture nowadays. So why should we preserve it? Is all of our cultures merely amused because of its hidden philosophical meaning and beautiful narratives? Or is it bigger than that?

So I am interested to find out the answers by discussing with more people. I will post one drawing each day about Indonesia cultures. I will try to present the non-very-popular themes and topics, and tried to explore the ideas behind that and correlate it in today values. It is quite personal and I am really happy if you can join in this discussion. What made these cultures still relevant until now? Or whatever you thought about these drawings. Feel free to participate, comment, criticize, discuss, or anything.

Thank you, Hope you enjoy this project….
